Other details

A settings page is also available in the Windows Subsystem for Android. You can access it from the Start menu.

You can access any files that you have created or downloaded via the platform’s menu. This includes images, audio, documents, and many other types of files.

WSA will automatically remain inactive until you launch an application. The settings page includes a Subsystem resources option that allows you to make the virtual machine run continuously.

You will also find an option to enable Developer Mode, locate the IP Address to connect to the debugging tools, and close the current instance.

While Android apps support is welcome in Windows 11, it does not mean that you can run every application you wish. The Amazon Appstore contains only 50 apps and the majority of them are games. Sideloading apps may allow you to install almost any app. However, those that require Google Play Services such as Gmail and Google Maps won’t work.

You can find out which apps are compatible with Windows 11 by using the community list at GitHub.

This guide will show you how to install WSA and the Amazon Appstore. You can also download the Windows Subsystem app for Android, which will install the Amazon Appstore.

This platform is only available in the United States. However, you can change the region settings on Setting > Times & Language > Text & Region.

Microsoft offers a variety of resources for developers to help them optimize their Android apps to work with the Windows Subsystem. This documentation describes how to set up the development environment, and configure platform settings. You will also find details about adding support for keyboard/mouse, resizing windows, and security.
